A Thousand Words: ATypI Seoul'25

ATypI is an international organization that hosts annual type conferences around the world. For this project, I created a potential ATypI conference in Seoul in 2025.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but how many images are a thousand word worth? What do images and word have to do with each other in the first place? In this conference, we explore the relationship between words and images, how language influences visuals, and how characters can create pictures.

I picked Seoul as the host city because of its role as the booming cultural center of South Korea. Hangul ( 한글 ), is the official writing system in South Korea and a perfect example of how language can create imagery beyond the inherent meaning of its words. The design of the conference represents the towering Seoul skyline, but uses words to create the imagery to build on the theme of the conference.
